RIAT 2025 Preview

It's that time of year again ... RIAT is a mere week away (yes this time next week I'll be utterly unbearable) and is tradition I thought I would highlight what I'm most looking forward to this year.

As with last year (blog here) I'm staying in a hotel in Swindon and getting the shuttle bus in each day. It's not a patch on camping with Dad but it's better than not going at all (and to be fair it was nice to come back to air con and a mini fridge on the hot Friday last year).

This year there are loads of aircraft I'm looking forward to seeing so let's start with the (insanely big) static aircraft park (put it this way I'd done 20,000 steps by 10am on the Saturday last year).

C5 Galaxy

Top of my list to check out in the static park is the humongous C5 Galaxy. I've always wanted to see one of these giants.

AN-74T

The Egyptian air force is sending an An-74T which is such a crazy looking plane!

JF-17C Thunder

Today's final announcement included the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex JF-17C .

And now to the flying display!

Here are the highlights from last year's flying displays.

Finnish F18

The 2023 show

The Finnish F18 put on a fantastic display back in 2023 (I think it won an award if memory serves) hopefully this year will be the same.

Frecce Tricolori

The Frecce Tricolori were last at RIAT in 2022, they're always one of my favourite display teams to watch.

Fiat G.91

The G.91 is a vintage Italian jet and is going to perform some flypasts on the Saturday & Sunday.

Wedgetail

This will be the first appearance of an RAF Wedgetail at RIAT and it's going to be performing a flypast with the Red Arrows.

And finally ....

B1B Lancer

Another of today's final 'mic drop' announcements is the B1B Lancer . On the Friday and Saturday of the show there will be a B1 taking off and doing a couple of flypasts. They have a reputation for being incredibly loud on take off so I will be reporting back!

There are tons of other flying displays I'm looking forward to, the RAF are of course sending the Red Arrows, Typhoon etc. I can't wait to be back in my happy place snapping photos and videos.

And please join me in praying for dry weather!

Love Jen
